What is a PTA?
The PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) is a grassroots organization that brings parents and teachers together so they can work towards improving the lives and education of students. Over 6.5 million people belong to PTAs nationwide, making it the largest child-advocacy volunteer association. Simply, a PTA is a group of adults, both men and women, affiliated with a school that have organized to work to help children thrive and learn — whether that means fundraising for school supplies, educating parents, helping teachers, or fighting for legislation to ensure every child gets a high-quality education.
Welcome to the start of another great school year at Penngrove Elementary, I hope you had a wonderful summer enjoying time with family and friends!
Friends of Penngrove PTA is looking forward to once again providing exciting and enriching programs and activities for the students. Kicking off the year with a bang will be our Back to School BBQ/Movie Night on Friday, August 3rd from 6:30-10pm at Penngrove Elementary. We hope to see you all there! From the BBQ to assemblies to family fun nights, our primary focus is the same – the children!
In order to make all these things happen, we need your support and assistance with volunteering. We have many wonderful events planned for the year, but we can't do them without your help. The parent community at Penngrove is like no other, so I have no doubt we will see all of your smiling faces at our events this year! In addition, becoming a member of our PTA is a wonderful opportunity to be involved, this means you have a voice for your family and your child. There are many opportunities to help and we appreciate your time and effort spent making our organization successful!
The PTA board and I are excited to get this year underway, and we invite you to join us at any one of our meetings.

Penngrove’s PTA association meetings are held in Room 3, one of our favorite classrooms. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend and participate in discussion, however only PTA members will be allowed to vote on action items. Membership dues are $10 annually and enrollment is open year-round. If you would like a topic to be added to the agenda at an upcoming PTA meeting, please drop a note in the PTA mailbox located in the office or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We are looking forward to hearing from you! The Friends of Penngrove hope to see you at a meeting soon!
For just $10.00 annually you can become a member of the PTA. Membership has it perks! With your membership you get discounts on things around school such as: Halloween Carnival entry, yearbooks, and logo wear. Also, when you are a PTA member you get a vote at our meetings. PTA, as an organization, depends on its membership and our unit cannot conduct business without the approval of its members.

Ways you Can Help Raise Money
Did you know that you can bring money back into our school by doing your weekly grocery shopping? Well, you can! In fact, our very own local grocery store - Oliver's was our top eScrip income last school year. We received over $4,500, just for our families and supporters shopping and using their Community Card at Oliver's. Have you signed up for the Community Card yet?
