Penngrove Statue:
Ever wonder about the statue that stands watch over the corner of
our school?

Penngrove
School students in a project coordinated by local ceramist Dan
Oberti, created an impressive 8 foot totem and a wall of more than
250 tiles. Each child and staff member at the school designed one of
the colorful tiles. The panther atop the totem was designed and
created by Tony White, student body president.
Parents and staff members donated elbow grease along with railroad
ties and concrete to landscape the site at the corner of Adobe and
Petaluma Hill Road. California Arts Council, Friends of Penngrove,
and Petaluma City School District financed the project which was
completed in November of 1981.
